The Weekly Buzz – Award Winner!

Today I’m all abuzz because Wild Ruffle has had an award bestowed upon it! The very sweet and super stylish Ruby Girl has passed along the One Lovely Blog award to us, and we are ever so thankful for it. You’ll have to check out her blog if you haven’t already – it’s so much fun. Keep scrolling past my outfit pictures to see details of the award.I wore this outfit to the park yesterday, where I overheard a woman say to her friend, “She is awfully fancy for the park!” I know she meant it to be derogatory, but I took no offense. I’m fancy every day, and that’s the way I like it! I’m just not a sweatpants kind of momma.

Steve Madden boots, Mossimo shorts, J Crew cardigan, Len Druskin Outlet top, Lois Hill watch and earrings, Wild Ruffle necklace

I made this necklace years ago, and it’s still one of my favorites.

I love the height on these booties. They are just high enough to feel a bit sassy, but low enough that I can carry two toddlers in my arms without worrying I’ll stumble.

Here are the rules with the award:
1. Link back to the person who passed you the award
2. Share seven random things about yourself
3. Award 15 blogs
4. Drop them a note and tell them about it
And the awards go to:
My 7 random things:
1) I think chocolate is just ok (I can hear the collective gasp around the internet right now). If you add caramel to it, then chocolate is super delicious because anything with caramel is super delicious.
2) I love, love, love earrings. The bigger the better.
3) I can remember the most amazing details about things that will never help me in life, like when my friend’s sister-in-law’s daughter’s birthday is, but I can’t remember why I walked in the room just now.
4) I have had many major surgeries. The list is too long to go into here, but the biggest was when I broke my neck at age 9. The doctors told my parents if I lived through the procedure I’d likely never walk again, and yet I was up and dancing shortly afterward (although I still can’t turn my head all the way to either side).
5) I am an eternal optimist and always assume everything will turn out well. I am surprised every time they don’t.
6) I am an adventurous eater and will try just about anything, yet 99% of my days I eat 2 eggs with dry toast for breakfast, popcorn with almonds for an afternoon snack, and a yogurt parfait for an after dinner treat.
7) My ideal pet is a wheaten terrier. My husband’s ideal pet is no pet at all. So far he is winning the battles, but with the kids on my side I’m hoping to eventually win the war.
Check out the Pleated Poppy again today to see what everyone’s been wearing! I’d love to know – are you fancy like me? Or you relaxed and casual? Everyone’s got their own style – I just happen to love my heels!

I once heard someone say “Fashion has no location” meaning you can be fashionable (and fancy) anywhere – Target, the park or while doing laundry at home. The comment inspired me and so do you!!
Love #3 in your list of things about you :)

  4. Thank you! Though I do love chocolate on it’s own, I agree that it’s better with caramel (or any creamy filling for that matter).

  5. Sara

  10. Good for you for taking the compliment :) I would have too! I guess I “get dressed up” even just to pick up the kids from school, but hey I figure that if I FEEL BETTER when I’m “dressed up” then … WHY WOULDN’T I?! Who CARES where you go, what matters is how you FEEL :D

  11. thanks for the blog award! i wish i was more fancy, but i am so causal. jeans, shirt and flip flops these days! maybe because i had to dress up for 10 years working at target!

  12. Kat

Just discovered your blog through A Fine Balance and I love your style! That you are raising kids while keeping a keen fashion sense is doubly impressive. I’m on the fancy side – I love tailored clothes, layering and mixing textures – with the occasional bohemian-inspired outfit mixed in. Look forward to future posts
