Mixin’ It Up

I am not a girl who often mixes my prints. I know it’s a huge trend right now, but my comfort zone is clean lines with simple patterns. While I’m not afraid to throw random colors together (my husband has asked why my clothes don’t actually match), mixing my prints just doesn’t cross my mind.

But if someone puts a challenge out there, I’m always ready to rise to the occasion. When the girls over at EveryBody EveryWear asked, “Can you wear mixed prints?” my answer was a resounding, “Yes I can!” (Too Bob-the-Builderesque?)

Want to know something? I kind of love this outfit.

I might just have to give this trend a run more often.

Top – Arden B, Skirt – Nordstrom

Earrings – Wild Ruffle

Shoes – Len Druskin Outlet, bracelet – JCrew

Have you tried mixing your prints yet? If you want to, but don’t yet know how, here’s a couple tips:

1) When pairing 2 prints, use one larger print and one smaller (like my narrow striped skirt with the bold swirls on top)

2) At least one color should tie the two prints together (in my case I have both black and white appearing twice)

3) Keep accessories fairly simple (like my black shoes and silver cuff)

4) Don’t be afraid of looking over the top – that’s what this trend is all about!

Check out how everyone else is doing it over at EveryBody EveryWear!
