One Skirt, Two Ways

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a post on how to wear one item multiple ways, so I’m bringing it back by showing you how to switch up a chambray skirt (last seen here, looking quite patriotic on the 4th of July).

Before I begin, here’s my tip of the day: an upshot photo of an already shortish skirt makes said skirt appear much shorter than it already was. Unless you’re looking to show off the goods, I’d keep it at ground level.

And here’s a bonus tip: It would appear that other mothers visiting the park think it’s very sweet that you’ve brought your camera with you, until they realize that your child is actually taking YOUR picture. And when they see you’ve brought an outfit change, the eyebrows REALLY get raised. Keep this in mind when planning your next photo shoot.A basic white tee gets a super charge with some Wild Ruffle chain link necklaces and silver caged earrings, paired with sky high faux snakeskin platforms from BCBG.

A quick change into a Merona button down, silver JCrew loafers, and a necklace of my mom’s circa mid-1980s makes this look a bit more casual (and perhaps a little more appropriate for chasing the kiddos around).

My mom’s closet is chock full of great stuff, just waiting for me to wear them. How could I resist this one?

  • I love the way light plays such a huge role in photography. It can make or break a photo – too little and you wind up with a grainy pic, too much and you’re overexposed. My favorite is when the sun is at the perfect spot in the sky and it creates a natural bokeh… [Continue Reading]

  • Hey guys, I’m excited to be posting on Wild Ruffle today for Cate. I blog about life, advocating for the orphan, thrifting and crafts over at A Harvest of Blessing. I “met” Cate online a few months back when she was looking for an organization to partner up with in Uganda and I was excited… [Continue Reading]

  • I purchased these pleather shorts from H&M last fall and wore them a couple of times. But lately, they’ve become my favorite thing to put on. Though the first time I donned them, my oh-so-funny hubby gathered the kids around him and said in an oh-so-serious voice, “Kids, I have sad news. Your mommy has… [Continue Reading]

  • As I type, the sun is finally peeking out through the clouds, and it looks like it’s going to be a pretty darn nice day here in Minnesota. Dare I say – it may even feel like summer? Warmer temps mean showing off those toes, and that means I better touch up the polish before… [Continue Reading]

    Wild About You
  • I’ve done my fair share of complaining about the rain. But yesterday, I did nothing of the sort. We didn’t see any sunshine – in fact, it absolutely dumped buckets of rain here in Minnesota. But after a long trip home from a funeral, I was so ready for a quiet morning at home. Besides,… [Continue Reading]

  8. Omgosh your story was hilarious! My neighbors think I’m a little strange because my daughter takes my pictures sometimes as well. I’ve gotta give you a big virtual high five for changing outfits at the park! You’ve got a job to do and your gonna do it :) And thank you so much for showing different ways to wear the same item! :)
