Beauty Resolutions

The other night I exfoliated my face, and I thought to myself, “My skin feels so soft! Why don’t I remember to do this more often?!” It sparked something in my mind – since this is the start to a new year, why not make some beauty resolutions? You only get one face in life, and because I have no plans to surgically alter mine, I better take care of the one I’ve got.

So exfoliating more often? It’s making the list. Also on there – taking care of the dark spots that stubbornly refuse to fade. I recently read a quote from a Kiehl’s executive describing their latest and greatest product, Clearly Corrective. He said he had a spot as dark as a UPS truck on his cheek, and within weeks of using this it was nearly gone. Sign me up – it sure sounds better than my other option, which involves lasers and scabs.

Another priority on my list of beauty to-dos? Drink more water! Staying hydrated is essential to having healthy skin. When your skin is dry, you’re more prone to wrinkles – not good news for a girl like me who already has skin on the drier side. H2O used to be the first drink I reached for, but these days I’m noticing that I drink less and less of it (and more and more coffee and sodas). 2012 is going to be a year of water for me – I plan to start each morning with a big glass of it, and replenish it all day long.

Last on my list? Taking better care of my mane. Between the color treatments and the flat iron, my hair takes a beating, and I need to find a product to counteract it. This product, Sachajuan, looks promising, with a ton of great reviews. Sephora describes it as an intensive hair treatment with ocean silk technology for damaged and stressed hair. Phrases like “long lasting,” “frizz reducing,” “silky shine, ” and “healthy look” have me itching to buy.

Tired of my plain denim shorts, I decided to switch it up a bit and polka dot the heck outta ‘em. 1) Step… [Continue Reading]

  • Just because you want to be comfortable, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style. In stretch cotton head to toe, I still felt put together in my casual maxi and layered tanks. I’ll be wearing some version of this all this week as we vacation in Florida. Minus the 5.5 inch heels, perhaps.;) What’s your… [Continue Reading]

  • I’m 4 days into our Florida family vacation, and I am loving this time with my family. Disney was a wee bit crazy, with 90 degree temps and blazing sun both days. But hey – it could be snowing! I’ll take it. Now we’re just relaxing on the beach, and eating as much ice cream… [Continue Reading]

  • Sometimes it’s the little details that make the outfit. The flutter sleeve. The ombre earring. A super tall pair of shoes. And my little four year old daughter capturing it all on film. Remember when I shared this? Hard to believe a full school year has already passed! top – via swap, earrings – H&M,… [Continue Reading]
