Today is kind of a big deal... on January 19th, we mark ten years of being Wild Ruffle. And you're going to want to stay until the end of this post to see how we're celebrating (but only if you like getting a ton of amazing things for free).
In case I'm throwing anyone for a loop, you should know that we have a lot of anniversaries. I'll touch on them in a moment, but Wild Ruffle was officially born as a life and style blog on January 19th, 2011.
Much has changed over the years, and WR has had many evolutions in the last decade. What started as a blog grew into pop up shops, where small businesses would join the fun as we'd host one day only shopping events around the city of Prior Lake (though we did branch into Minneapolis once and helped to coordinate Sparkle Boutique over the years as well).
Tammy joined WR in 2013, and that's when things really took off. Our online store was born, and people could begin to shop with us all year long. Every time a sale came through was cause for celebration as our little shop began to get wings.
When the city of Prior Lake approached us about opening a brick and mortar boutique, to help to transform the downtown area into a destination location, we hesitantly said yes and set up shop (alongside our friends at Urban Halo) inside what is now Lakeside Eats and Treats in December of 2014 (which means we just celebrated 6 years of having a physical location in which to shop).
Not realizing what demand there'd be for local shopping, we quickly outgrew our tiny space and moved a couple of doors down to our current spot, next to Edelweiss Bakery (we'll have been there five years this coming May).
On March 1, 2020, we expanded our business and began the first steps toward designing our own line - a passion project on Tammy's heart for years, and something we both felt called to. It was pretty much the WORST time any business could ever decide to launch a new project, and The Woven Cloth is still in the planning and development stages. But we believe God's ways and timing are not what we would plan, and are standing firm in the promise that we'll get to where we want to be eventually.
So there's our timeline in a nutshell. And we couldn't have made it past the first blog post without any of you. The faithful readers grew into loyal shoppers, who told their friends and family about us. As word spread, our business became what it is today, and we are incredibly thankful for each and every one of you.
