I get asked all the time how I came up with the name ‘Wild Ruffle’ for this business.

The truth is that it was a family affair!

When I first began all this, I was a stay at home mom with three small kids, two of whom were under the age of two. Staying at home with them had been all I ever wanted to do, and I am still so grateful I had all those years at home.

I also had a someday dream of opening a retail shop (after all the kids were in school), but I had no idea if it would ever actually happen. So I decided I’d start blogging about style – for a couple of reasons. 1) as an outlet for me outside of just being ‘mom,’ and 2) so that I could get my business name out there as a recognized brand before opening that someday shop.

With that, I needed a name that would be memorable. I also wanted something that could grow and change with me. Something that suggested fashion but wasn’t specific to it, in case my focus widened.

My parents were over, and all of us started throwing out suggestions, with Ed hopping online to see if anything was still available. My mom suggested ‘Wicked Ruffle’ and I knew we were ALMOST there. Hence, Wild Ruffle was born.

I’m so glad that I found a name that means nothing and everything at the same time. It has transitioned with me from fashion blog, to life and style blog, to Pop Up Shop host, to a partnership, to actual brick and mortar shop. It’s a name that stands out, and one I’ve never tired of. We are now over eight years in, and I can’t wait to see how Wild Ruffle continues to transition in the coming years!
